OUR PROCESS

We strongly believe in leaving it to nature. We do not use chemicals in the vineyards. Our processes allow our wines to go through natural fermentation. The old vines are head-pruned and hand picked, allowing for exquisite quality and taste.

OUR VINES

Our vines were brought over from Tuscany, Italy in 1885, making them some of the oldest Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines in the United States. We are located in the heart of the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. Long summer days and cool nights impart distinctive flavors, with deep, complex aromas. The result is long, lingering finishes from superb wines. Our vines are raised from 2-4 feet in height to gain more exposure to the sun.

OUR FAMILY

One might say that wine-making has always been in the Battaglini family blood. Giuseppe “Joe” Battaglini, our founder, was raised in Lucca, Italy and remembered running through the vineyard fields of Tuscany. It was in Italy that Joe learned the wine business from his grandfather, Giulio.

Our family-owned and operated, multiple award-winning vineyard boasts some of the oldest vines in the United States, dating back to 1885. Although located only about an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, you will probably think you are in Tuscany as Italian music and the aroma of Italian food wafts in the air throughout the picturesque Tuscan inspired decor.
